Dealing in absolutes

I am buried under heaps of sorrows and
muddy water’s slowly filing up my lungs
instead of trying to find what’s wrong with me and all
I am sitting here writing simple songs

Simple songs are fine but they never dissolute
everything that doesn’t work the way it used to do
they just play along and tell you what to do
but life does not deal in absolutes

I thought I was gone, I thought I was done
I thought that I hated every single one
I thought I was lost, I wrote you a song
about how much I was right and they all were wrong

I am buried under heaps of nothing and
there’s an empty void inside my nights and days
I’m afraid that this hole might be bottomless
maybe I should look out for some better ways

or at least they never give the needed one
did those simple songs ever help anyone
